Senator Sam Brownback (KS), presidential candidate, made a visit to Regent Park on Labor Day Monday. Over 160 citizens were on hand to cheer him on and give input and financial support. Brownback, making his second return trip to South Carolina, in the past 2 weeks has seen large increases in the base of his support in South Carolina.
Part of his success in the Fort Mill area has come from the large number of supporters that blanket the Regent Park area that are passionate on the issue of Life and the respect of life at all levels.
Brownback has drawn support from leaders around the area. Some of the event supporters were: Chuck Mervin, TheCause USA, Matt Lockett, Bound4Life, Kirk Bennett, Zadok House of Prayer, Rick Joiner, Morningstar Church, and Al Wood, former NBA and UNC all-star.
Monday's event eclipsed Mike Huckabee's visit to Rock Hill the previous week by more than a hundred followers. Brownback hopes to consolidate local evangelical supporters and capture the South Carolina primary January 15, 2008.
